A very colorful lunch: spinach, falafel, sweet peppers, and barbecue sauce in a whole wheat wrap, a baggie of grape tomatoes + a kiwi, and an orange, which I only ate half of and gave the other half to my friend who loves oranges

Verse of the Day: “And Jesus answered him, saying, it is written that man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word of God.” Luke 4:4

Hi Guys! Sorry I haven’t posted for a few days. As I said before, that’s usually because I’ve been under/over eating. Usually the latter. Meh, I guess that’s better than restricting, right? Besides, I’m working on it. I don’t beat myself up as much for it.

It’s difficult to know what to blog about when I don’t even have myself figured out completely. I’m not sure what my “eating style” is… or even what I like to eat. I’m easily influenced when it comes to food, I eat what my friends are eating or what I decide I’d like to eat for the day/week/month/whatever. One thing I have stuck to is vegetarianism. That was my decision and my decision alone, and through ridicule and other struggles I’ve persevered. I’m very proud of that. 😀

But I’d like to have an eating style I can maintain my whole life. Not this sporadic eat healthy-eat crappy- eat healthy cycle I’ve got going. It’s tough but hopefully one day I’ll find my balance.

One way in which I’ve found balance is in making my life about so much more than food. At the same time, though, I’d like to put a lot of effort and time into what I eat because when I eat well I feel good. Also, when I lose track of the “importance” of eating right, I slip into the “crappy eating” mode.

I overthink things. Thank you for being here for me to vent/rant to. 😉

Have a fine day my foodie friends! ♥

Ok, one more thing I wanted to mention. Yeh.. my name’s not Josie! [don’t hate me please!] My name’s Kaila, and I want you all to know that cuz I don’t wanna lie to y’all!

I kept my name a secret cuz I thought it’d be “safer”- you know, since this is the internet and such. Do you all use fake names too? OK now I feel like a dork.

Well… goodnight.

Words cannot describe how tired I was this morning. I stayed up late chatting with my sister and as a result could barely see straight when I woke up. To make matters worse, we were expecting a two-hour late start due to snow, but no cigar. Only an inch of snow, and school on time.

Which meant an early breakfast! This certainly helped wake me up. (The coffee played a part in the waking-up, too.) Microwaved sausages + 2 eggs, seasoned with black pepper. On the side, a whole wheat fig newton spread with just a bit of peanut butter. Probably a teaspoon, though I didn’t measure.

I zombied my way through morning classes and then took a break for this lunch. Almond butter, apple slices, and raisins wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. In the baggie, chopped carrots and the rest of the apple (which I didn’t eat).

After school, a very long nap was in order. It helped a lot! When I woke up I was famished so I whipped up a “breakfast for dinner.” First, some strawberry yogurt with multigrain cheerios. Simple, but a lil festival for my mouth! Sweet strawberry, yum!

Then, two more sausages. I finally finished the package! Usually this would not be a good thing but my mom won’t let me go food shopping until I use up some freezer goods.

Last but not least, I ate an apple. No picture; you know what an apple looks like! 🙂

I don’t think I’m going to have any dessert tonight because I’m so tired, I’ll probably just go to bed soon. Goodnight all! ❤

Verse of the Day: “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.” Daniel 2:20-22

Hello! Would you like to see what I ate today? 😛

I had a very random breakfast today. Our house is seriously running low on food so I just threw a few things together. Two Morningstar Farms breakkie sausages, an apple, a slice of cheese, and a tiny lil glass of oj. Does anybody else call it this? “OJ..”

I had a couple of morning snacks today while studying. First, a plum (then another plum.. I just can’t stay away from these things!).

And yet another slice o’ cheesey!

Now this is an impressive lunch! If I may humbly say so. It took some extra time to prepare but it was so worth it! It had a base of mixed lettuce, then piled on top of that was.. get ready for this.. some roasted sweet potato, roasted carrots, Wheat Thins fiber select crackers, black beans, snap peas, garlic hummus, mashed potato, hazelnuts, cashews, raisins, and lastly some salsa sprinkled lightly over the whole thing. I think my favorite flavor combo in this salad was the garlic hummus + mashed potatoes. Can you say creamy? The amazing part was that this whole salad was made of random leftovers! Doesn’t the picture look more like pig slop to you now?

Hehe, what a cute little dinner! When dinner time rolled around, I was at a friend’s house. We decided to be lazy teenagers and just make some pb & j’s. Luckily her house has quite the assortment of jellies and breads! Mine was made on dark wheat bread (whatever that means, I don’t see how wheat can be anything but wheat colored), with homemade marionberry preserves and Jif peanut butter. Presented on an inviting paper plate.

Could these sandwiches be any more different? 😛

Verse of the Day: “I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” Psalm 40: 1-2

Gute nacht!

I just learned that after I ate dinner. Sad. Oh well.. maybe tomorrow will have to be pancake day instead… 😉

This morning I woke up hungry but in the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school I forgot breakfast! I ate a “lame” breakfast of a deviled egg, some raw hazelnuts, and a slice of cheese, all eaten while running around the kitchen preparing lunch. Not very voluminous, but the fats kept me very full for hours!

Here’s my lunch:

Classic peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat, a “thick & creamy” yogurt, and an apple. I’m starting to eat bigger lunches so I don’t eat so much in the afternoon.

I actually didn’t eat anything else until dinner. I guess the protein from the yogurt was enough to hold me over.

First, a plum and a slice of cheese, the same kind I had this morning.

Then a huge, thick slice of homemade honey oat bread slathered with a heaping helping (oh yes, there was more added after the pic) of garlic hummus. Mmmmm. I noticed I eat a lot of bread… but I don’t care! Bread is the staff o’ life, and I’m not cutting back! 😛

After youth group this evening I came back starving! It had been almost six hours since I’d eaten. So.. I had some unpictured strawberry yogurt, and some crackers crushed into a small bowl of applesauce. A perfect little snack. The only thing that could have made it more perfect was if I’d photographed it.

Tonight at youth group the pastor preached about being willing to give up your whole life and everything you have for Jesus. He read from a book called “Extreme Devotion” which tells stories of martyrs and Christians who literally have risked death or imprisonment or both, just to preach the Word of God. It’s amazing what those people have done, really.

Verse of the Day: “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 16: 24-25

Have a great night everybody! 🙂

This is nice, it hasn’t rained in a while 🙂

A Kashi strawberry flax waffle (I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this- but we buy 40-packs of Kashi strawberry waffles at Costco. That’s why I only eat the strawberry flavor), 2 tbsp peanut butter, a drizzle of honey, an entire apple, sliced (when you slice it it looks like much more food!), and coffee with Silk creamer.

Sorry, no picture of my lunch! It was a hummus and spinach sandwich on whole wheat, an apple, and a granola bar. Pretty typical lunch.

This afternoon, I’m ashamed to say, I overate. There’s no pictures of the food. A while after my rather large snack, I made some tea and worked on computer stuff:

That always cheers me up 🙂

After a run I made a smoothie that ended up being my dinner. It contained 3 tbsp of peanut butter, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, and rice milk. Alongside, an apple. I used to have pb/chocolate smoothies all the time.. where did they go?

Oops! I’m gonna make the rest of this post quick because the lights just flashed! It’s storming like mad outside and I’m suspecting we’ll lose power.

Ta ta!

Hi everybody! Sorry I haven’t posted the last few days. Whenever I don’t post it’s usually because I’m either undereating or overeating (or I just forgot to post- hehe). I’m almost free from ED, but sometimes he comes back to visit 😦

Well that was depressing! On to some happy food pics! These are mostly recent pics, but some from quite a while ago.
