I’ve decided to take a break from my blog. Honestly, I’ve fallen into a rut with my eating (bingeinngg :(), and I’d rather not post about it. I have to take some time to figure out how to eat balanced and well.

Healthy eating is different for everyone. Some of us feel better eating vegetarian, while some feel fine consuming meat. One person might eat lightly all day and have their main meal be dinner, while another person might eat a larger breakfast and less at night. Some people follow a three-meal-a-day plan, while some graze constantly.

I think the root of my eating disorders the past couple years has been trying to eat how other people eat, rather than doing what works for me. It’s important for me now to take a break from the food blogging world so I can eliminate influences that warp my eating patterns. I have to find an eating style that fits my life, my budget, and my body.

I have to do this for me. Once I’ve figured out how to eat, I’ll start posting again. I know I’m probably making this more difficult than it is…but seriously, I’m sick of eating horribly.

I must comment on this last meal ^
Fabulous! It was just a simple grilled cheese sandwich with two slices of sharp cheddar cheese, whole wheat bread, tomato, and spinach leaves. Something about biting into this warm, gooey sandwich on a cold rainy day was so very comforting.

Who else has been obsessing over Twilight? I’m so excited for it hitting theaters tomorrow! Finally, it’s cool to be pale! (If you read the books you know what I’m talking about). 🙂

Anyway, sorry for the very impersonal post, I’ve got to get busy on homework and I’ll write more tonight after dinner. See ya!

I’ll be posting again beginning tomorrow. Lately I’ve had very irregular eating habits, i.e. overeating, skipping meals, and mostly I’m just not feeling up to cooking anything worth posting. There’s a lot of english muffin/ peanut butter eating going on here, not too exciting! 😉

Woohoo! I’m so happy I finally ate a raw meal!

I figured the root of my stomach problems the other morning was the liquefied state of the food. It makes sense because I’ve never been able to handle liquid food in the morning, not even protein smoothies. So this morning I made sure to eat solid- but RAW- food:

A fruit salad made with two bananas and three kiwis. This was my second favorite breakast of all time!! (The first involved a homemade whole wheat roll, Ricotta cheese, and honey.) HOWEVER, I would like to make a comment about raw vegan food. It is a MOOD BOOSTER. Seriously, I feel soo happy after eating this meal, like my mind is as clear as water (clean water, haha).

For lunch today I’ve packed a peanut butter sandwich on 16 grain bread:

It probably has about 2.5-3 tbsp of peanut butter. Not too much, but not too little either.

I’m going to a party later this evening and I’ll most likely be starving when I arrive. I’m contemplating bringing another peanut butter sandwich because the party will have the usual greasy pizza, cookies, and chips. However, I might just have a couple slices of cheese pizza and it won’t be the end of the world, and I’ll stick to water rather than soda. I think I’ll do that. I don’t want to be so uptight about my food intake, you know? Just want to be smart about it. How do you cope with parties/ eating at other people’s houses?

Well enough of my rambling! 😉 I’ll let you get back to more blog reading.

I made this breakfast last night and was so excited to eat it this morning! I thought about it all night! Don’t worry, I slept also… 😀 Last night I blended together two bananas, a handful of cashews, cocoa powder, and a tiny bit of honey to sweeten it up. It turned out a lovely chocolate color. Then this morning I threw in some diced apples for sweetness and crunch:

Beautiful, isn’t it? I was so excited! But unfortunately, I was very disappointed by this breakfast. After a few bites, my stomach started feeling queasy. I needed solid food or I was going to hurl! So I quickly scarfed down a wholegrain english muffin with Smart Balance.

Well, in my first attempt of eating raw I failed. Honestly, I think it had a lot to do with the particular bananas I used. The peel on them was fine and everything, but in the very core of them, the flesh was almost black. Kind of strange… they smelled a little funny, too. Can bananas rot from the inside out?

Anyway, the point of all this rambling is that I’m determined to eat a full raw breakfast at least once, so I’m definitely trying this again, once I buy some different bananas!

By the way, this breakfast was inspired by Agnes. She makes the most mouth-watering (looking) raw meals!

1. I taught myself how to play piano.

2. I broke my arm by being bucked off a horse, now I don’t ride horses anymore… go figure?

3. Breakfast at Tiffany’s is my favorite movie. Lately I’ve been watching it at least twice a week. ;P

4. I love love love school, math, science, taking notes, and learning new things! I’m such a nerd!

5. I’m completely clueless when it comes to fashion. If it weren’t for my sister (Icy Bubbles) I’d dress like a weirdo every day. She gives me advice and tells me when “…Do you really want to wear that?” Haha. Bless her!

6. I grew up on a former dairy-farm. My grandparents had raised cows there for meat/milk for decades.

7. My dream home is an apartment in New York. Someday…

8. I work at a produce store. (Jealous?) 😀

I was elated the other day when I turned on the radio and Christmas songs were playing!!!!!!!!! My favorite holiday is fast approaching! So to get into the spirit, this morning I created what I call Christmas oats– my usual banana oats, but with a twist!

Oats made with water, banana, cinnamon, cloves, and crushed hazelnuts. It tasted very festive! Especially with the snowman/candle ambiance. Here’s a better view of the oats:

One of my favorite bowls to date.

Just before lunch, it started pouring down rain outside! I mean really pouring! The streets were flooded, and I could barely make it to my car through the downpour! Therefore, I was in serious need of a comforting lunch. Soup was the perfect answer. I heated up a can of Amy’s lentil soup (I was too hungry to wait for it to cook on the stove!) and had a nice bowl with a thick slice of sprouted grain bread on the side, smeared with Smart Balance. The curvy bread was a perfect little scoop for the soup!

After lunch I went to a Mexican-themed cookout. They/he (it was my friend’s own fundraising thing) served tamales/enchiladas/tostadas, that kind of thing. I opted out of eating (I’d already had lunch and anyway, most of the food had meat in it) and instead had a couple small cups of coffee mixed with hot chocolate powder. Mmm, love mochas!

For dinner tonight I tried to make a dent in my english muffin collection. Yes, I bought more english muffins- how can I resist? They’re so yummy! I had a whole-grain one this time- not toasted, just soft and chewy- spread with a generous layer of peanut butter, probably 2 1/2 tablespoons worth, and on the side, a whole sliced orange, half a sliced apple, and some jicama chunks. The jicama didn’t pair well with the rest of the sweet/salty dinner, but I ate it anyway.

Well, there you have it: my day in food. And guess what- it was all vegan! Sometimes I do that without even trying, like today.
